In this video DJ - a professional 3d artist is taking apart some art advice videos by Ethan Becker to prove that 3d artworks are always superior to 2d ones!
This is a ruthless YouTube art battle with some unexpected turns and twists supposed to make you laugh, cry or just question: What is really important in making art? Is Ethan Becker right in suggesting you should learn to draw perspective or is that an old-fashioned technique that 3d software like Blender and F-Spy make totally redundant and obsolete? Is 3d always better than 2d despite the obvious advantage of additional dimension (2+1=3)?
Taking the opportunity to defend bass (represented by the mighty Davie504) alongside 3d art against Ethan Becker’s silly jokes, DJ challenges Ethan and promises a bass reveal on condition of the video reaching 1000 subs (slap like now if you too can’t stand bass being offended!)
Finally, DJ takes up the role of a film critic to share his (possibly) views on the 3d remake of the famous animated movie about lions. Analyzing the case in-depth he comes to the only possible conclusion that the 3d version is better (as always). The unexpected intervention of an angel sheds new light on the whole 2d vs 3d controversy. Using a combination of Blender’s grease pencil and DJ’s sentimental childhood memories, the angel girl causes DJ to change his mind and appreciate 2d art as well as Ethan Becker’s creative input, or… does she?
Clearly, the video is by no means a serious attack towards Ethan, and wanting to create a fan-art tribute to Ethan Becker’s comedy style DJ has received a kind green light from Ethan to remix parts of his YT work. For more educational stuff on making art follow Ethan’s work and make sure you take your art skills more seriously than the jokes! Now grow up and get learned! (congrats for reading this far… you rock !)
